Bulk Pineapple Powder Supplier — Freeze-Dried Whole-Fruit (Pineapple Fruit Powder, Ananas comosus) & Spray-Dried Juice, USDA & EU Organic Available, B2B Wholesale

Written by Jonathan, Valeherb · Reviewed by Dr. Xiaoyan Qiu · Updated June 2026

Valeherb supplies pineapple powder (also called pineapple fruit powder or pineapple juice powder, Ananas comosus) in bulk wholesale, made from 100% real pineapple — the sweet-tart tropical fruit. It is the fruit, not a standardized bromelain enzyme extract and not a pineapple-flavoured protein powder. Two grades are available: a freeze-dried whole-fruit powder (Organic available) and a spray-dried juice powder with maltodextrin. Pineapple naturally contains the enzyme bromelain, which changes how the powder behaves in a formula — see the note below.

SUPPLIER NOTE
This is pineapple (Ananas comosus), the sweet-tart tropical fruit — a whole-fruit food ingredient. It naturally contains bromelain, a protein-digesting enzyme, so it behaves differently from other fruit powders (see below). It is not a standardized bromelain extract (usually from the stem), not pineapple-flavoured protein powder, and not pineapple fibre. The freeze-dried grade keeps more bromelain activity; the spray-dried juice grade is largely heat-inactivated. Values vary by cultivar, ripeness, season, and drying method.

Our Two Grades

The drying method is the main decision. It changes the colour, how much vitamin C and bromelain activity survive, the texture, how it dissolves, and the label. Both grades start from real pineapple. Only the freeze-dried grade is available organic.

Freeze-Dried Whole-Fruit Powder Spray-Dried Juice Powder
Made from Whole pineapple Pineapple juice
Carrier None — 100% fruit Contains maltodextrin carrier
Mesh options Fine (powder) or coarse Fine, free-flowing
Colour & flavour Pale yellow; fullest sweet-tart fruit character Pale; clean, sweet, dissolves for drinks
Vitamin C & bromelain Highest retention; bromelain remains active Held with the carrier; bromelain largely inactivated by heat
Solubility Disperses in water; some natural fibre Dissolves clear and fast; made for drinks
Organic USDA NOP & EU Organic available Conventional only
Single-ingredient label Yes — 100% pineapple No — maltodextrin is declared
Choose freeze-dried whole-fruit if…you want 100% fruit, the fullest tropical flavour, the highest vitamin-C retention, active bromelain (for marinades or tenderising), a single-ingredient label, or an organic option.
Choose spray-dried juice if…you need it to dissolve clear in a drink, want the bromelain largely inactivated so gelatin sets and proteins stay stable, and a maltodextrin carrier is fine on the label.

Pineapple Powder, Juice Powder, Bromelain, Protein Powder: Which One?

“Pineapple powder” is searched for several different products, so this is worth getting right before you order.

  • Pineapple fruit / juice powder (Ananas comosus). The dried, milled fruit or juice. This is what we sell. “Pineapple powder,” “pineapple fruit powder,” “pineapple juice powder,” and “dried / dehydrated pineapple powder” all mean this.
  • Bromelain (enzyme) is a different product. A standardized proteolytic-enzyme preparation, usually from the pineapple stem, sold by enzyme activity (e.g. GDU) for supplements or as a tenderiser.[1] Our fruit powder naturally contains some bromelain but is not a standardized enzyme product.
  • Pineapple-flavoured protein powder is different. A protein supplement flavoured with pineapple (the “Dole Whip” style), not pineapple fruit powder.
  • Pineapple extract / fibre powder are different. A standardized extract, or an isolated fibre — not the whole fruit or juice.
  • Pineapple exfoliating powder (cosmetic) uses the enzyme for skin — a finished cosmetic product, not our food ingredient.
PLEASE NOTE
Bromelain is marketed for digestion, inflammation, sinus, and weight loss — but those claims relate to standardized bromelain extracts (often from the stem), dosed by enzyme activity, not to a food-grade pineapple fruit powder. We supply pineapple powder as a food and a flavour, and make no health or enzyme-activity claims. Bromelain activity in a fruit powder varies and is reduced by heat and storage, so “contains bromelain” is not a reliable performance claim without activity testing — ask us if you need documented activity per lot.

Colour, Bromelain & Drying

Pineapple powder is pale yellow to cream — its colour comes from mild carotenoids, so it works as a flavour ingredient rather than a strong natural colour. Its defining feature is bromelain, a protein-digesting (cysteine-protease) enzyme naturally present in the fruit; the enzyme sold commercially as “bromelain” is usually concentrated from the stem and is a distinct preparation.[1] Bromelain and vitamin C are both heat-sensitive, so the drying route matters: freeze-drying at low temperature keeps the most vitamin C, fresh flavour, and bromelain activity, while spray-drying the juice uses a maltodextrin carrier and enough heat that bromelain is largely inactivated, since it loses activity at around 65–70 °C.[2] Both grades hold best stored cool, dark, and dry.

Nutritional Composition (Naturally Occurring)

Levels move with cultivar, ripeness, season, and drying method, so this describes what the fruit naturally contains rather than guaranteed standardized values.

  • Vitamin C — pineapple is naturally high in vitamin C, in amounts that depend on the drying method
  • Bromelain — a naturally occurring protein-digesting enzyme; activity depends on the grade and is reduced by heat[1][2]
  • Natural sugars & acids — the sweet-tart tropical balance
  • Manganese & fibre — naturally present in the whole fruit

We describe these as naturally present and do not standardize the powder to any marker compound.

FORMULATOR TIP
Plan around bromelain. Active bromelain (in the freeze-dried grade) stops gelatin and jelly from setting, can soften milk and other proteins over time, and may cause mouth tingling at high levels — so for gelatin desserts, protein drinks, or dairy where set and stability matter, use the spray-dried (heat-inactivated) grade or build in a heat step. Where you want tenderising (marinades) or just tropical flavour, the freeze-dried grade is ideal. The spray-dried juice grade dissolves clear for drinks; the freeze-dried whole-fruit grade gives the fullest flavour and vitamin C and a single-ingredient label.

Applications by Category

  • Beverages & drink mixes: spray-dried juice powder for fast, clear dispersion and a sweet-tart tropical flavour
  • Bakery & confectionery: tropical flavour in fillings, cakes, and confectionery (use the spray-dried / heat-treated grade where a protein or gelatin set matters)
  • Dairy & frozen: yogurt, ice cream, and plant-based formats — mind that active bromelain can soften dairy proteins (see Formulator Tip)
  • Seasoning & marinades: a sweet-tart tropical note in seasonings and glazes; the freeze-dried grade’s active bromelain also tenderises
  • Nutrition & smoothie blends: a whole-fruit tropical component for nutrition and smoothie mixes
  • Natural flavour: a real-fruit pineapple note for clean-label formulations

Sourcing & QC Criteria

Parameter What to verify Why it matters
Form & grade Whole-fruit vs juice powder (Ananas comosus) — not a standardized bromelain extract, not protein powder Different products with different composition, use, and price
Drying & carrier Freeze-dried (100% fruit, no carrier) vs spray-dried (maltodextrin declared) Sets flavour, vitamin C, solubility, label, and bromelain activity
Bromelain activity Stated as active (freeze-dried) or largely inactivated (spray-dried / heat-treated); tested per lot if a level is required Gelatin set, protein stability, and tenderising all depend on it
Organic certification USDA NOP and/or EU Organic (EU 2018/848) covering the fruit and the facility Both the source and the processing must be certified for an organic claim
Microbiology & heavy metals TPC, yeast & mould, E. coli, Salmonella; ICP-MS (Pb, As, Cd, Hg) per batch Core food-grade requirements for a low-process fruit powder
Pesticides Multi-residue screen for conventional grades; organic grades controlled via certification audit Market-entry requirement for EU / US / Japan

Regulatory Guidance

  • United States: pineapple is sold as a food and dietary-supplement ingredient — DSHEA applies for supplements. Organic grades require USDA NOP covering the fruit and the facility. Pineapple is not a major declared allergen, though some individuals are sensitive to pineapple or bromelain; FDA-registered facility (21 CFR Part 111) for supplement supply
  • European Union: established food use (not a novel food); organic grades require EU Organic certification (EU 2018/848). A standardized bromelain enzyme is regulated separately from a food-grade fruit powder. For cosmetic use, the INCI sits under Ananas sativus / Ananas comosus — confirm the exact INCI for the form
  • China & sourcing: pineapple is an established tropical food; supplied with full export documentation and organic certification where required
FOR BRANDS
This page describes a raw food ingredient and the fruit’s naturally occurring constituents. It does not make, or pre-substantiate, any finished-product health claim. Digestion, anti-inflammatory, sinus, and weight-loss claims relate to standardized bromelain extracts, not to a food-grade pineapple fruit powder, and are the brand’s responsibility. Bromelain activity in the powder varies, is reduced by heat and storage, and is not standardized — any product relying on it must verify activity per lot.

FAQ

A1:Pineapple powder is used mainly as a sweet-tart tropical flavour ingredient in food and beverage manufacturing — in drinks and drink mixes, bakery and confectionery, dairy and frozen desserts, seasonings and marinades, and smoothie or nutrition blends, plus its natural bromelain can tenderise in marinades. The spray-dried juice powder dissolves clear for drinks; the freeze-dried whole-fruit grade gives the fullest flavour, the most vitamin C, and active bromelain.
A2:Yes — pineapple powder naturally contains bromelain, the protein-digesting enzyme found in pineapple, but how much active bromelain remains depends on the grade: the freeze-dried whole-fruit powder keeps it active, while the spray-dried juice powder is largely heat-inactivated because bromelain loses activity around 65–70°C. Because activity varies and falls with heat and storage, we describe bromelain as naturally present, do not standardize it, and make no enzyme or health claims. We can test activity per lot if you need it.
A3:Pineapple powder can stop gelatin, jelly, and Jell-O from setting when its bromelain is still active, because the enzyme digests the gelatin proteins; this happens with the freeze-dried whole-fruit grade, which keeps bromelain active, and it can also soften milk and other proteins over time. To make gelatin set, use the spray-dried (heat-inactivated) grade or add a heat step that denatures the enzyme. For tenderising marinades, the active freeze-dried grade is what you want.
A4:Pineapple powder and pineapple juice powder are both dried pineapple, but pineapple powder usually means the whole milled fruit (often freeze-dried, 100% fruit), while pineapple juice powder is the pressed juice spray-dried onto a maltodextrin carrier, which dissolves clear and fast for drinks. The whole-fruit powder keeps fibre, more bromelain activity, and a single-ingredient label; the juice powder is more soluble, lists the carrier, and has bromelain largely inactivated. We supply both.
