Bulk Pomegranate Fruit Powder Supplier — Freeze-Dried Whole-Fruit (Punica granatum) & Spray-Dried Juice, USDA & EU Organic Available, B2B Wholesale

Written by Jonathan, Valeherb · Reviewed by Dr. Xiaoyan Qiu · Updated June 2026

Valeherb supplies pomegranate powder (also called pomegranate fruit powder, Punica granatum) in bulk wholesale, made from 100% real pomegranate — the edible arils and juice, not the peel and not a synthetic flavour. Two grades are available: a freeze-dried whole-fruit powder (Organic available) and a spray-dried juice powder with maltodextrin. Below: a quick-spec panel, the two grades side by side, the freeze-dried vs spray-dried decision, and full sourcing criteria.

Botanical source Punica granatum — whole ripe fruit (the arils)
Two grades Freeze-dried whole-fruit (fine / coarse) · Spray-dried juice (with maltodextrin)
Organic USDA NOP & EU Organic available — freeze-dried grade only
Colour Natural deep red
Flavour Sweet-tart, bright, lightly astringent
Mesh Fine & coarse; standard and custom mesh available
Origin / MOQ China & MOQ 1kg
Best for Beverages & drink mixes, supplements & sachets, natural colour, dairy, blends
SUPPLIER NOTE
This is a whole-fruit food ingredient made from real pomegranate arils and juice — not pomegranate peel powder, not a standardized extract, and not a synthetic flavour. The values below describe the natural fruit and vary by cultivar, ripeness, season, and drying method.

Our Two Grades

The drying method is the main decision. It changes the colour, how much vitamin C and pigment survive, the texture, how it dissolves, and the label. Both grades start from real pomegranate. Only the freeze-dried grade is available organic.

Freeze-Dried Whole-Fruit Powder Spray-Dried Juice Powder
Made from Whole ripe pomegranate (the arils) Pomegranate juice
Carrier None — 100% fruit Contains maltodextrin carrier
Mesh options Fine (powder) or coarse (visible fruit pieces) Fine, free-flowing
Colour & flavour Deepest red and fullest sweet-tart flavour Red; milder, a bit paler
Vitamin C & anthocyanins Highest retention — closest to fresh fruit on a dry-matter basis Pigment held with the carrier; vitamin C lower than freeze-dried
Solubility Disperses in cold water; some natural fruit fibre Dissolves clear and fast; made for drinks
Organic USDA NOP & EU Organic available Conventional only
Single-ingredient label Yes — 100% pomegranate No — maltodextrin is declared
Choose freeze-dried whole-fruit if…you want the deepest colour and flavour, the highest vitamin-C retention, a single-ingredient 100%-fruit label, an organic option, or coarse pieces for visible fruit in bars and granola.
Choose spray-dried juice if…you need it to dissolve clear in a drink with no lumps, and you are fine with a maltodextrin carrier on the label.

Fruit, Peel, Extract, Seed: Which Pomegranate Powder?

“Pomegranate powder” is sold in several very different forms, and they are not interchangeable. Here is how they sort out.

  • Fruit / aril powder. The edible part of the fruit, dried and milled. This is what we sell. “Pomegranate fruit powder” and “pomegranate powder” usually mean this.
  • Juice powder. The pressed juice dried onto a carrier. We make this too.
  • Peel / rind / husk / skin powder — a different product. Made from the skin, not the fruit. It is very high in tannins and is mostly used in cosmetics and traditional topical products. If you searched pomegranate peel powder or rind/husk powder, that is not what we supply.
  • Extract powder. A concentrated form, often standardized to ellagic acid or punicalagins. That is a different, processed product — we sell food-grade fruit and juice powder, not extracts.
  • Seed powder. Made from the crushed seeds. We sell whole-fruit and juice powder from the arils.
PLEASE NOTE
Many pomegranate searches are about heart health, blood pressure, men’s health, or skin. Those uses are usually tied to standardized extracts (dosed to ellagic acid or punicalagins) or to peel powder for topical use — not to a food-grade fruit powder. We supply the food ingredient and do not make health claims. If your finished product needs a particular anthocyanin or polyphenol level, ask us and we’ll confirm what we can document per lot.

Drying Method & Nutrient Retention

For a fruit powder, the drying method — not a standardized assay — is what most affects quality, so it is worth specifying on purpose. The red comes from anthocyanins,[1] which are sensitive to heat, light, and pH. Our freeze-dried grade dries the whole fruit at low temperature with no carrier, so it keeps the colour and the vitamin C closest to fresh. Pomegranate juice is high in sugar and acid and won’t dry into a free-flowing powder on its own, so the spray-dried juice grade uses a maltodextrin carrier, which actually helps hold the red colour and anthocyanins through drying.[2] Both grades keep their colour and vitamin C best when stored cool, dark, and dry.

Nutritional Composition (Naturally Occurring)

As a whole-fruit powder, pomegranate powder carries the fruit’s natural parts. Levels move with cultivar, ripeness, season, and drying method, so the list below describes what the fruit naturally contains rather than guaranteed standardized values.

  • Anthocyanins — the red pigments of the arils and juice (delphinidin, cyanidin, and pelargonidin glucosides), which also work as a colour contribution[1]
  • Vitamin C — naturally present and best kept in the freeze-dried grade
  • Ellagitannins & ellagic acid — naturally occurring polyphenols of the fruit; most concentrated in the peel, with some in the arils and juice[1]
  • Potassium — naturally present in the whole fruit
FORMULATOR TIP
If colour, flavour, and vitamin retention drive your spec, the freeze-dried grade gives the most per gram and supports a clean single-ingredient label. If you need a base that dissolves clear in a drink, the spray-dried juice grade is easier to work with. Anthocyanin colour holds best in cool, low-light, mildly acidic conditions, so confirm your process pH and heat load before setting an inclusion rate.

Applications by Category

  • Beverages, drink mixes & shots: spray-dried juice powder for fast, clear, lump-free dispersion, deep red colour, and a sweet-tart note
  • Supplements, capsules & sachets: a whole-fruit ingredient for clean-label blends; pairs with other fruit powders such as beetroot
  • Bakery & snacks: freeze-dried coarse powder for visible fruit pieces and real colour and flavour in bars, granola, and baked goods
  • Dairy & frozen: yogurt, ice cream, kefir, and plant-based formats wanting natural red colour and a sweet-tart note
  • Natural colour & flavour: an anthocyanin-rich whole-fruit powder for clean-label red colour and tart flavour where regulations permit
  • Nutrition & superfood blends: colour and whole-fruit solids for fruit and reds blends

Sourcing & QC Criteria

Parameter What to verify Why it matters
Form Whole-fruit / aril or juice powder — not peel, extract, or seed powder These are different products with different composition, use, and price
Grade & carrier Freeze-dried (100% fruit, no carrier) vs spray-dried (maltodextrin declared) Sets colour, retention, solubility, and label — single-ingredient vs declared carrier
Drying method Freeze-dried vs spray-dried — documented Directly drives vitamin-C and anthocyanin retention and final colour
Organic certification USDA NOP and/or EU Organic (EU 2018/848) covering the fruit and the processing facility Both the source and the processing must be certified for an organic claim
Microbiology & heavy metals TPC, yeast & mould, E. coli, Salmonella; ICP-MS (Pb, As, Cd, Hg) per batch Core food-grade requirements for a low-process fruit powder
Pesticides Multi-residue screen for conventional grades; organic grades controlled via certification audit Market-entry requirement for EU / US / Japan

Regulatory Guidance

  • United States: pomegranate is an established food — food use for food applications, and DSHEA for supplements. Organic grades require USDA NOP certification covering the raw fruit and the processing facility. FDA-registered facility (21 CFR Part 111) for supplement supply
  • European Union: established food use (not a novel food); organic grades require EU Organic certification (EU 2018/848). For cosmetic use, the INCI sits under Punica granatum (e.g. Punica Granatum Fruit Extract) — confirm the exact INCI for the form
  • China: pomegranate (shíliu) is a common, established food; supplied with full export documentation and organic certification where required
FOR BRANDS
This page describes a raw food ingredient and the fruit’s naturally occurring constituents. It does not make, or pre-substantiate, any finished-product health claim. Heart, blood-pressure, prostate, antioxidant, and skin claims are the brand’s responsibility to substantiate and label compliantly in the destination market — and are generally tied to standardized extracts or peel powder, not to a food-grade whole-fruit powder.

FAQ

A1:It’s pomegranate fruit, dried and ground into a deep red powder. We make it two ways: a whole-fruit powder from the edible arils, and a juice powder. Both come from real pomegranate, with nothing added.
A2:Sweet-tart and bright, with a little astringency, the same flavour as the fresh fruit. It also adds a strong red colour.
A3:The powder is the dried fruit or dried juice, so it stores longer, ships lighter, and is easy to dose in dry blends. The juice is the liquid. Our spray-dried grade is made from the juice, so it dissolves clear and tastes close to it.
A4:No. An extract powder is concentrated and often standardized to ellagic acid or punicalagins. We sell food-grade whole-fruit and juice powder, not standardized extracts.
