Bulk Mangosteen Powder Supplier — Freeze-Dried Whole-Fruit (Mangosteen Fruit Powder, Garcinia mangostana) & Spray-Dried Juice, USDA & EU Organic Available, B2B Wholesale
Valeherb supplies mangosteen powder (also called mangosteen fruit powder, Garcinia mangostana) in bulk wholesale, made from 100% real mangosteen — milled from the sweet, white edible aril of the tropical “Queen of Fruits.” It is not the purple rind / pericarp powder, not a standardized xanthone (α-mangostin) extract, and not Garcinia cambogia. Two grades are available: a freeze-dried whole-fruit powder (Organic available) and a spray-dried juice powder with maltodextrin. Below: a quick-spec panel, the two grades, the disambiguation “mangosteen powder” needs, and full sourcing criteria.
Our Two Grades
The drying method is the main decision. It changes the colour, how much vitamin C and tropical aroma survive, the texture, how it dissolves, and the label. Both grades start from the edible aril of real mangosteen. Only the freeze-dried grade is available organic.
| Freeze-Dried Whole-Fruit Powder | Spray-Dried Juice Powder | |
|---|---|---|
| Made from | Whole edible aril | Mangosteen juice (from the aril) |
| Carrier | None — 100% fruit | Contains maltodextrin carrier |
| Mesh options | Fine (powder) or coarse | Fine, free-flowing |
| Colour & flavour | Cream/off-white; fullest sweet-tangy whole-fruit character | Pale cream; clean and a little sweeter, juice-forward |
| Vitamin C & aroma | Highest retention — closest to fresh fruit on a dry-matter basis | Held with the carrier; lower than freeze-dried |
| Solubility | Disperses in water; some natural fruit fibre | Dissolves clear and fast; made for drinks |
| Organic | USDA NOP & EU Organic available | Conventional only |
| Single-ingredient label | Yes — 100% mangosteen | No — maltodextrin is declared |
Mangosteen Powder, Pericarp/Rind, Extract, Garcinia cambogia: Which One?
“Mangosteen powder” attaches to several different materials, so this is worth getting right before you order.
- Mangosteen fruit / aril powder (Garcinia mangostana). The dried, milled edible white aril. This is what we sell. “Mangosteen powder,” “mangosteen fruit powder,” and “mangosteen juice powder” all mean this.
- Pericarp / rind / peel powder is a different product. Milled from the inedible purple skin, it is where mangosteen’s xanthones — chiefly α- and γ-mangostin — concentrate, with far lower levels in the edible aril.[1] It is a botanical / supplement input, not a fruit ingredient. We sell the fruit powder, not the rind.
- Standardized xanthone extract is different. An α-mangostin–standardized concentrate, more processed and more concentrated than a whole-fruit powder. Our powder is the food fruit, not a standardized extract.
- Garcinia cambogia is a different species. Garcinia cambogia (G. gummi-gutta) is a sour green fruit sold for hydroxycitric acid (HCA), not the sweet purple mangosteen. We supply Garcinia mangostana.
- “Purple mangosteen powder” — the purple is in the rind. The edible-fruit powder is cream to off-white; only the pericarp is purple.
Colour, Vitamin C & Drying
The edible mangosteen aril is naturally white, so the finished powder is cream to off-white — not purple. The purple anthocyanin pigment sits in the rind, which we do not include, so buyers searching “purple mangosteen powder” should expect a pale, neutral fruit powder rather than a colourant. What matters more is heat-sensitive vitamin C and the delicate tropical aroma, both sensitive to heat, light, and oxygen. Freeze-drying the whole aril at low temperature with no carrier keeps the most vitamin C and fresh aroma, while the spray-dried juice grade uses a maltodextrin carrier that helps carry and protect the powder as it dries; studies on spray-dried mangosteen juice report that, at appropriate maltodextrin ratios and inlet temperatures, the powder’s appearance, colour, taste, and aroma are well maintained.[2] Both grades hold best stored cool, dark, and dry.
Nutritional Composition (Naturally Occurring)
As a whole-fruit powder, mangosteen powder carries the fruit’s natural parts. Levels move with cultivar, origin, ripeness, season, and drying method, so the list below describes what the fruit naturally contains rather than guaranteed standardized values.
- Natural fruit sugars — the characteristic sweetness of the aril
- Vitamin C — naturally present, in amounts that depend on the drying method[2]
- B-group vitamins & minerals — including folate, thiamine, and riboflavin, plus manganese, copper, and magnesium
- Fibre — naturally present, with the whole-fruit grade keeping the aril’s fibre
Note that the xanthones mangosteen is marketed for sit largely in the rind, not the edible aril,[1] so a whole-fruit aril powder should not be positioned as a xanthone or α-mangostin source.
Applications by Category
- Beverages & drink mixes: spray-dried juice powder for fast, clear dispersion and a sweet tropical note in drinks, smoothies, and RTD or effervescent mixes
- Smoothie & superfood blends: whole-fruit aril powder as a sweet tropical note in fruit and green blends
- Dairy & frozen: yogurt, ice cream, and plant-based formats wanting a mild tropical fruit note
- Bakery & confectionery: fillings, glazes, and inclusions with a mild fruit character, kept away from high heat
- Nutrition & supplement blends: a whole-food fruit component for clean-label blends (formulated, not assay-standardized)
Sourcing & QC Criteria
| Parameter | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Form & part | Mangosteen fruit / juice powder from the edible aril (Garcinia mangostana) — not pericarp / rind, not a standardized extract, not G. cambogia | These are different products with different composition, use, and price; the part also determines what claims apply |
| Grade & carrier | Freeze-dried (100% fruit, no carrier) vs spray-dried (maltodextrin declared) | Sets solubility, label, and cost — single-ingredient vs declared carrier |
| Drying method | Freeze-dried vs spray-dried — documented | Directly drives vitamin-C and aroma retention and the final format |
| Organic certification | USDA NOP and/or EU Organic (EU 2018/848) covering the fruit and the processing facility | Both the source and the processing must be certified for an organic claim |
| Microbiology & heavy metals | TPC, yeast & mould, E. coli, Salmonella; ICP-MS (Pb, As, Cd, Hg) per batch | Core food-grade requirements for a low-process fruit powder |
| Pesticides | Multi-residue screen for conventional grades; organic grades controlled via certification audit | Market-entry requirement for EU / US / Japan |
Regulatory Guidance
- United States: mangosteen is sold as a food and dietary-supplement ingredient with a US history of food use — DSHEA applies for supplements. Organic grades require USDA NOP certification covering the raw fruit and the processing facility. FDA-registered facility (21 CFR Part 111) for supplement supply
- European Union: confirm Novel Food status before EU market placement — mangosteen products made from puree of the entire fruit have been classified as a novel food in the EU, even though the fruit itself is traditionally consumed in its countries of origin.[1] Organic grades require EU Organic certification (EU 2018/848); for cosmetic use, confirm the exact INCI for the form
- China & sourcing: mangosteen (shān zhú) is an imported tropical fruit, sourced from Southeast Asia and supplied with full export documentation and organic certification where required
